Co-President Speech Walk For Life: Morgantown, WV May 2007 Hello everyone! I am so honored to be present at this Walk for Life as the co-president of West Virginia Teens for Life. It gives me hope to see all of you here today, willingly bearing witness to those who do not have a voice in our country and our world. When my friend and mentor Mrs. Patricia Johnson told me that the position of president for WVTFL was open, I immediately jumped at the chance. So, that’s why I’m here today! I’d like to share with you the whole story of my decision to get more involved in pro-life activities and then talk about how you, the teens of this state, can help the pro-life cause achieve success in our country. Last summer, I attended a youth retreat in Louisville, Kentucky. During the retreat, all the teens participating walked to an abortion mill in downtown Louisville. We lined the sidewalks in front of the clinic and started praying for the women that were planning on having an abortion that morning. It was a pretty powerful sight- over 200 teens in matching t-shirts praying on the sidewalk. For me, it was a life-changing experience. I had never come face to face with the horrors of abortion as on that day. I cried when I saw the hurt and confusion on the faces of the women walking towards the clinic. I heard the taunts of the clinic escorts and the patient voices of the side-walk counselors who were trying to convince the women to not have an abortion. And I felt joy when a couple of the women decided not to have an abortion because of our prayers and presence.
